Olympic Hills Golf Course

New Life: How Minnesota’s most challenging golf course upped its offering

There’s no other golf course in Minnesota like the Olympic Hills Golf Course. With its unique topography and gorgeous surroundings, members have been flocking to its greens for almost 50 years. When the club wanted to add a state-of-the-art fitness center they turned to Freemotion to create a space that was not only innovative but highly effective.

"If members feel better when they leave than when they came, we’ve accomplished our goal"

Background

In Minnesota, the Olympic Hills Golf Club is known as one of the most challenging and imaginative golf courses in the state. Since opening in 1969, Olympic Hills prides itself on the beauty of their greens, the celebration of golf and providing a “retreat”-like atmosphere to its members.

In addition to the golf experience that members get, Olympic Hills has a gorgeous clubhouse, delicious restaurant, and zen-like yoga studio. When they wanted to update their gym, they started researching the best equipment available; a line that had versatility, durability and a stellar workout.

Challenge

Olympic Hills was going through a major update, including golf course renovation and adding a top of the line fitness center. They wanted to offer members an expanded cardio section, dedicated strength training, and select speciality machines that “exceeded the expectations of club leadership,” said owner Dan Luther.

Business Impact

With new Freemotion Reflex Treadmills, Recumbent Bikes, Genesis DS, Epic Selectorized and the Dual Cable Cross, the fitness center delighted members with its diverse functionality and total body workout options. In fact, most of the Freemotion machines that Olympic Hills choose for its fitness center, help strengthen the muscles and moves used in playing golf.
Now, Olympic Hills members can make a full day out of their visit to the club, not only getting in a round of golf but also taking the time to get a comprehensive workout. “We have a beautiful fitness center,” said Andrea Kellar, Director of Membership.

“If members feel better when they leave then when they came, we’ve accomplished our goal,” said Dan.
