PORTSMOUTH, 28 August 2026 — BH Live, a registered charity and social enterprise, has recently opened a new Reformer Pilates studio in partnership with Freemotion, the commercial equipment brand of the iFIT family, also home to NordicTrack.

The studio, which opened in June, brings an experience more commonly found in premium private boutiques into a community facility, at prices designed to make Reformer Pilates more accessible to the local community.

That accessibility runs through the studio itself. Its 14 NordicTrack Ultra 1 RX-S reformers include six with built-in touchscreens giving members access to hundreds of iFIT-powered on-demand guided workouts alongside a full timetable of instructor-led classes. The on-demand reformers effectively keep the studio open all day: members choose the session, the intensity and the time, then follow guided instructions on screen at their own pace.

The response has proved the appetite is there, with instructor-led classes filling fast and on-demand sessions in steady use since day one.

Making Reformer Pilates accessible

Reformer Pilates has grown in popularity in recent years, but access has largely been limited to private studios where classes can cost upwards of £25 per session. At Pyramids, access to instructor-led Reformer Pilates classes is available for £5 to eligible BH Live Active members, and £15 to pay-as-you-go visitors.

BH Live Active members can also access Freemotion’s on-demand library of Reformer Pilates classes included in eligible BH Live Active memberships at no additional charge (outside of class timetables), while pay-as-you-go visitors can exercise on their own time for just £9.50, which also includes access to the centre’s gym.

The creation of the Reformer Pilates studio forms part of BH Live’s major £750K investment to improve health and wellbeing facilities at BH Live Active leisure centres across the city, including brand-new gyms at Mountbatten Leisure Centre and Wimbledon Park Sports Centre and an improved group cycle studio at Mountbatten Leisure Centre.

This investment is all part of BH Live’s charitable mission to encourage Portsmouth’s residents to improve their health and wellbeing by creating new, engaging, and accessible ways for visitors to stay active.

Pyramids is owned by Portsmouth City Council and is operated by registered charity and social enterprise BH Live.

The centre is situated in Southsea overlooking the beach and Solent. There is something to suit every activity preference and level of fitness. The centre has state-of-the-art Technogym fitness equipment in an airy spacious gym with functional fitness, strength and cardio activities. There is a dedicated assessment area for those who are new to exercise complete with fitness tracking technology to help set activity goals.

Pyramids has four activity studios too; the Glasshouse and Solent each with sea views. There is also the region’s only dedicated HIIT studio running circuits style HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) classes, plus group exercises such as Yoga, Pilates, and classes as part of the Les Mills™ programme including BodyPump, BodyCombat and Core.

A South Terrace outdoor café and container bar is open throughout the spring and summer season, offering snacks, light bites and refreshments overlooking the Solent.

Next to Pyramids is a public car park with 154 parking spaces including six accessible spaces for blue badge holders. Up to two hours of free parking is available for customers attending the gym or a class – ask or register in the centre. There is also free roadside parking along Clarence Esplanade after 6pm.
